Course Outline Leadership Fundamentals
Overview
South Alberta High School is an online learning platform that is a great option for those students who want the flexibility to learn at their own pace and complete the requirements necessary to achieve credit in the Leadership Fundamentals course.
This course is divided into the following 3 units of equal weighting:
Module 1 – Leadership Fundamentals 1
- As we begin the first lesson, we will spend much time identifying the characteristics of effective and non-effective leadership. Then, we will walk the students through real-life examples and provide insights into developing healthy leadership characteristics. Finally, we will include a self-assessment process in which the students can evaluate others’ leadership and their own.
Module 2 – Leadership Fundamentals 2
- In this lesson, the students will go in-depth to evaluate the leaders they encounter and develop strategies to learn from the experience. They will then be guided through strategy and training concepts to enhance leadership within a group. Finally, they will be asked to develop team builders and exercises to stress the development of effective leadership characteristics.
Module 3 – Leadership Fundamentals 3
- In this lesson, the students will go in-depth to evaluate the leaders they encounter and develop strategies to learn from the experience. They will then be guided through strategy and training concepts to enhance leadership within a group. Finally, they will be asked to develop team builders and exercises to stress the development of effective leadership characteristics.
Learning Objective
- To gain the ability to assess leadership styles.
- Educate the students on all the most impacting characteristics of an effective leader.
- Introduce the students to an assessment process of the leadership needed within their leading groups.
- Assist the students in developing plans to develop leadership
- Help the students develop the process of daily tasks to strengthen their leadership.
- Provide the students with insights into The Power Differential that leadership creates
- Share with the students how leadership by fear is both ineffective and creates long-term mental health issues.
- Provide the students with a clear and concise path to becoming an effective leader.

BOB WILKIE
Bob is a former NHL athlete. He is the founder of I Got Mind Inc and has been helping athletes develop leadership skills for over 20 years. He has worked with some prolific leaders in sports and the corporate world. I Got Mind has been helping individuals and companies throughout North America to understand the importance of effective leadership in the 21st Century.
